Spanish Articles Print E-mail
ImageDefinition: In Spanish, nouns are either masculine or feminine. Each gender has its own article. Nouns that end in -a are almost always feminine and nouns that end in -o are almost always masculine. The difference between definite articles and indefinite articles can be talking about a specific hen, or any unspecific hotel.
Examples in Spanish:
a hotel = un hotel (masculine)
a camera = una camara (femenine)

the rooster = el gallo (masculine)
the hen = la gallina (feminine)

To form the plural of a noun, add
an s to the end if it ends in a vowel.

Examples in Spanish:
the pencils: el lapicero = los lapiceros
the grapes: la uva = las uvas
some dogs:
algun perro = algunos perros
some female cats:
alguna gata = algunas gatas

and an -es to the end if it ends in a consonant.
Examples in Spanish:
the canals - el canal = los canales
the nations - la nacion = las naciones
