From Cóbano it's about 8 kilometers to Montezuma town,situated on the inside of the Nicoya Peninsula 25 kilometers from the tip, Cabo Blanco. It's a no-stop sign, one intersection town, everything is within walking distance. Delicias, Los Cedros and Cabuya are "barrios" assosiated with Montezuma. When the swell is from south there is good serfing in Los Cedros,3 kilometers south of the town. There is also surf at Playa Grande.There is a waterfall from the clifftop to the beach at Playa Grande, which makes a great hourseback trip. There is also a series of waterfalls just south of Montezuma, a 20 min. hikeup the river.
Panga boats can take you deep sea fishing, or to Tortuga Island for snorkeling or hop the water taxi for a 1 hour run to Jaco from the beach in Montezuma. The canopy tour is popular. On Saturday mornings there is a market in the park. Organic veggies and much more. Bring your guitar or drum if you like.
Dining in Montezuma is quite diverse. There are four pizza shops and a dozen more restaurants. There are several boutiques and tour offices who help to book you on all the tours available. No ATM. No doctor. 1 cop. Maybe. Night life is happening at the Luz de Mono with house and reggae, at Chicos Bar and Chicos Playa and in the Hotel Montezuma with mixed music. If you get a chance to see the local Band Yucamote, don´t miss it. Hotel accommodations vary, everyone will find something to suit her/his purse. Take the bus which meanders down the coast 6 kilometers to the quiet village of Cabuya, gateway to Cabo Blanco Reserve.
