Sand Castle Festival in Manzanillo
Probably the biggest yearly event along this stretch of coast, is the sandcastle festival in Manzanillo. Normally one of the quietest beaches along the coast, the three-day long party weekend transforms Manzanillo into a crowded, happy "Party Central"... .
During the three day festival, usually held in March or April, there are dances, football and horse-racing for everyone's enjoyment, but the highlight of the weekend is always the last day: Sunday, the day of the sandcastle contest.

The International Art Camp Festival "Chunches de Mar" began in January 2000, when a group of artists who had been camping on the Ingalls family beach property for the past 35 years and Nefi Ingalls, decided to make this an official event, so the community could share in the art they were creating.

Cámara de Turismo de Montezuma
Después de muchos años de intentar organizarnos, por fin, Montezuma conformó su Cámara de Turismo. El paso que ha dado este pueblo tan pequeño pero tan grande por sus recursos naturales que lo rodean, garantiza un rumbo mas positivo al contar con una organización que vele por sus intereses y el de sus asociados. Actualmente esta organización cuenta con mas de 40 afiliaciones y creemos que otros lo harán pronto.

Dengue Fever
Dengue is a mosquito-borne infection that in recent years has become a major international public health concern. Dengue is found in tropical and sub-tropical regions around the world, predominantly in urban and semi-urban areas; more recently, dengue incidence has increased in Central and South America. Outbreaks of dengue fever have been reported annually in Costa Rica since 1993. In 2006 dengue cases declined from previous years in Costa Rica. So far this year, it appears that the number of cases are on the rise.
