Poi / Fire Dancing Print E-mail
Fun
Poi is the Maori word for a "ball on a cord”, which is used as a form of juggling where the balls are swung around the body. The word "Poi" is both plural and singular. (I have one Poi, he has two Poi).Traditional Maori poi consists of two flax strings attached to weighted balls of moss and other materials. The strings are swung rhythmically while dancing or storytelling and are used as percussive instruments, since they made distinctive sounds as they travel through the air or brush the body.

What is Anaplasmosis? Print E-mail
Food , Beauty and Health
There is yet another “tick disease” on the scene that I thought might warrant clarifying. As most dog owners in the area have either heard about or dealt with canine ehrlichiosis, there is another strain of the same type of parasite that is now becoming more and more common here in tropical paradise.

Sauna in the tropics? Print E-mail
Food , Beauty and Health
The tropics are the perfect place to Sauna. The heat of the sauna stimulates an internal release of toxins, as well as exfoliation of the skin surface. The skin is the biggest organ of the body. Sweating can be one of the most effective ways to cleanse and purify the body. Heat opens the blood vessels, capillaries, and relaxes the muscles, fascia, and internal organs. Cold temperatures constrict the vessels. Alternating between the two can cause a pumping action that helps the body eliminate deep toxic build up. The skin feels soft and renewed, the whole body invigorated & the spirit re-charged.

My name is Neill Wight, I was born in Scotland and I have been practicing Chiropractic for over a decade. In the last few years however I have been drawn to a therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which is part of energy psychology. This therapy enables a person to detect negative emotional patterns within the bodies energy system and clear them by tapping with two fingers on specific acupuncture points.

Natural Treatments and Care for your Hair Print E-mail

How to enhance natural blonde hair: for fair hair, you can wash it with camomille tea or lemon water. Just squeeze 1 lemon in ½ litre of water. Leave the camomille or lemon water on, and go out into the sun or into the ocean. The acid from the lemon will not harm your hair, rather it will rebalance the pH.

Visit the Peninsula de Nicoya! Print E-mail
Environment

Come and enjoy the green season on the beach!

Many people agree that the green season from May to November is one of the better times to visit the Nicoya peninsula. Even though we can possibly expect more rain this year (because there was not so much rain in the last wet season), we still highly recommend traveling during this period, our personal favorite.

Was your dog coughing too??? Print E-mail
Food , Beauty and Health
About 2-3 months ago, I can't tell you how many calls I received for dogs with a dry hacking cough, almost like they had something stuck in their throat that they couldn't get out. This went around the peninsula like wildfire, starting in Santa Teresa and Mal Pais, and then coming over to Cóbano and eventually to Cabuya and Tambor.
